Biography
Bethan Rose is a versatile musician, currently pursuing an MPerf in Violin Performance at the Royal College of Music under the tutelage of Peter Manning. An accomplished academic and musician, she holds a BA in Music from Oxford University, where she held Instrumental and Choral scholarships at The Queen’s College, and an instrumental scholarship with St. Anne’s Camerata.
Her extensive orchestral experience as a violinist includes numerous leadership roles, having served as leader for the Oxford Concert Orchestra, Oxford University String Ensemble, and Telford Orchestra. A fervent advocate for musical theatre, Bethan frequently plays with the London Music Theatre Training Orchestra in productions such as Wicked, Les Misérables, and Carousel.
On the professional stage, Bethan has performed with the Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Battle Proms, and Highbury Players. She is often invited to lead for local choral society concerts, and has recently taken the role of leader of the Cotswold String Orchestra.
Her training at the Royal College of Music has seen her perform with the RCM Symphony, Philharmonic, and Opera orchestras, as well as in a side-by-side project with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Her most notable performance at college was with the RCM String Ensemble in a private concert for His Majesty the King and Aga Khan V.
As a soloist, Bethan has performed for various charitable causes, including The Mulberry Bush Charity, and was awarded 1st prize for the Young Artists Platform in Oxford, which included a masterclass with Nicola Benedetti.
As a vocalist, Bethan specialises in choral and consort singing at the highest level. Her recording credits include two critically acclaimed albums with The Queen’s College Choir, Oxford—House of the Mind and A New Heaven—and she remains a frequent guest for their annual Lenten concert series. Bethan’s ensemble experience further includes performances with Schola Cantorum, Oxford, and the Taverner Choir under the direction of Andrew Parrott, featuring on their Western Wind recording. A versatile performer, she is also regularly engaged as a guest soloist for various choral societies.
